I know this can be relative. But I would like to hear from you people. If you didn't understand the question, then let me rephrase for you.
What, in your opinion, makes a person interesting? (Or)
What kind of person would you call interesting?
From what I have seen around, this "interestingness" (I own the copyright to this word) is somewhat associated to a person's idiosyncrasies. Or should I say those who choose to be different often are labeled as idiosyncratic.
Alright, alright! Having subdued my top part of the brain, here is what I come up with. Something that might make sense to you.
I would say a person is interesting when he or she has a wider range of interests that overlaps with you and pursues them.
Your thoughts please.

Hi JP,
For me a person who has a different point of view from mine or who has interests which are not that common (atleast not common to me) would be "interesting".
Kanchan.
It's interesting you said "interests not common". I have often heard people say that for a successful relationship, you need to have common interests. Now merging these two statements in the simplest possible way, can I say it's not possible to be part of a successful relationship and be interesting at the same time?
When it comes to 'relating', half of it is 'expressing' - what I express and how? For the 'what' part, the person should be knowledgeable and observant. But 'how' one expresses or communicates 'interestingly' requires an understanding about the audience too.
Measuring 'interestingness' (I owe you some royalty, eh?) with similarity/differences in interests would be difficult for me.
The 'what' part - Is that not going to be from your 'interests' section? I mean, even if you are talking about the ill-tempered next-door aunt or the hyper-active thumb sucking boy across your house, doesn't it mean that 'people' are one of your 'interests'?
The conversation here sounds 'interesting'! Yes most of the time I feel this 'interesting' thing is spontaneous and ends up losing its intensity with time. Like, 'Oh I met that beautiful lady the other day', but might not feel the same way I meet her next. Just a random thought of mine.
But your blogs always seem interesting to me and I am having that opinion for a long time! (And this directly contradicts what I said above)
An object interests you, if it evokes your senses, including the sixth sense - the faculty of thought.
A person is interesting if he/she can evoke and sustain our thoughts.
Successful relations cannot be totally attributed to interestingess among the subjects.
On a lighter note, Flickr is coming up with algorithms to evaluate a picture's interestingness factor.

Maybe we can devise one for the human mind too :)

When it comes to people, who takes our attracts our concentration atleast for a while by their way of expressions or communication or looks anything you name it ..is interesting.........
